The Music Department recently had a very exciting visit from the Education Manager from Steinberg, the creators of the software Cubase a Digital Audio Workstation that we here at Kettering Science Academy are very lucky to have on all of our computers in the Department. We are now in our fourth week of working with John Calcott and Aiden Jones from the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust on the Music Technology project using Cubase created by Steinberg. Students have been learning a variety of techniques to develop their knowledge and understanding of the DAW and this week a number of our instrumentalists within the group have even had the chance to record their own inputs into the software to develop their music track. Students have been provided with their own digital downloads of the software Cubase to use at home in order to develop their learning further. Students from Years 7-10 have been given this opportunity by their music teachers, Miss Mapletoft, Mr Farrar and Miss Mallard. We hope this is a springboard for continuing to develop music technology within the curriculum here at Kettering Science Academy.
