Nottingham Trip
We visited the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. They were able to compare the two different environments, both campuses had student advisors to help them find the information they needed and our Y12 students had time to explore both Universities to see what they could offer them. This gave them a great insight into the two different Uni lives in the same city.
Parliament Trip History/Sociology students
We had the opportunity to visit the houses of Parliament. We were taken into the gallery in the House of Lords where Jacqui Smith (former Home Secretary - now Baroness Smith of Malvern) was making a speech about the importance of education. We then went up to the common gallery where the Covid enquiry was being discussed, this was followed by David Lammy updating the house of his recent visit to Israel and Gaza. In Westminster Hall we met the newly elected MP for Kettering, Rosie Wrighting. She spoke with the students about how she arrived at Parliament at the young age of 26 and what she would be hoping to achieve as the local MP. We also had to visit the National Art Gallery, and Downing Street. Overall, a busy and educational day out!
