A group of eight students recently received bronze librarian awards for their hard work. They applied to be student librarians at the beginning of the year and underwent a vigorous application process.
The students ranging from Year 7 to 11 had to complete a range of tasks in order to receive the award. This included keeping the library in order, attending six shifts of work in the library, writing a review of a new book and knowing how to prepare new stock.
Head Librarian, Mrs Heidi Economou presented students with their awards during CAPS time, inviting them for tea and cake. Each student received a certificate and an official school librarian badge to mark their new position.
She said ‘the students have all done so well. They worked really hard in the library and are such a big help to Jenny and I.
‘Many students complete the award as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award and to gain leadership skills.’
Students will now continue to work towards completing their silver and gold librarian awards.
