During the competition, in which Charlie only had three weeks to prepare for, she performed a vault and floor routine.
She said ‘From when I found out I was going to compete to the competition itself, I spent 2 ½ hours training, five times a week.
‘I’m only 12 and was entered into the 13 and over category where I was up against some girls that were 15 years old.’
The gymnast has only been training with the group for a year. Before she joined the club, Charlie only ever used to train at home with very limited equipment.
She said ‘I was really nervous before the competition but also very excited that it was all I would talk about. It was such a great experience and I hope to compete in more competitions soon.’
