This week, approximately 500 students from Year 7 to Year 9 took part in a virtual field trip with Google Expedition.
Throughout the day classes took it in turns to use the virtual reality headsets to learn more about a topic they are currently studying. The students viewed a variety of 360 photospheres and 3D images, in which they were able to point out specific points of interest along the way.
Some of the students looked at the human anatomy whilst others went on an ocean safari. Some students even looked at the reconstruction of the WW1 trenches and others explored the Galapagos Islands.
Head Librarian Heidi Economou said ‘It was a brilliant day. It was lovely for our students to be able to have the opportunity to try out the revolutionary tool. They were able to learn about their topics in a truly immersive and interactive way.’
