Performing Arts Trip are Go!!!
The dance and drama department have been busy this term visiting the theatre to see some exceptional pieces of work by some world-renowned companies. The Performing Arts department hopes the trips will inspire students and allow them to use their experience in lessons to form class discussions and influence performance.

On Wednesday, a group of BTEC, GCSE and A-level drama students took a trip to Leicester’s Curve Theatre to see Frantic Assembly’s production of ‘Things We Know to be True.’ – A bold and funny story of family and marriage told through the eyes of four grown siblings struggling to define themselves beyond their parents’ love and expectations.
A group of Year 9 and 11 students studying dance also went on a recent trip to the Birmingham Hippodrome to see the acclaimed dance company ZooNation’s production of ‘Groove on Down the Road’. – A production that is set in a fantastical urban world and tells the story of Dorothy and her adventures with Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion on their journey to OZ, complete with red sneakers and hip-hop dances.
Drama Teacher Mrs Amanda Doherty said ‘Our students have been a real credit to the school, beautifully representing us. They fully understood the theatre etiquette and reflected on the opportunity presented to them; we couldn’t be more proud.
‘Our aim is to inspire students so the work they do in class benefits from the experiences they are offered. We shall be building on this as the year continues so that every child has the opportunity to go to the theatre at least once.’
