Students support local charities

Year 8 students have been working hard to fundraise for local charities.

After learning about local charities in PHSE, Year 8 students were inspired to do more to support them. The students used form time to come up with ideas of how they could support local charities and over the last few weeks, students have managed to gather lots of items for the Kettering food bank and have donated a huge amount of clothes, books and toys to local children’s charity shop. They have also sold biscuits and sweets after school to raise money for the rainbow charity, which supports children with terminal illnesses.

Year 8 Form Tutor Jessica Clark said ‘I would like to say how proud I am of my Year 8 group. Over the course of the event, the students have successfully donated 54 food and hygiene items to the food bank, 46 items of clothing, toys and books to a local charity shop and have raised nearly £40 from their cake sale which was a great success.

‘The students were really enthusiastic about helping those less fortunate and have felt a great sense of achievement. They now want to do another cake sale.

‘I also want to say thank you to all the staff who contributed to our food bank donations, everyone who bought the students cakes and all the students who contributed in some way.’
