A group of Year 10 and 11 students visited the nations largest skills and careers event ‘The Skills Show’ at the NEC.
The students learnt about a wide variety of careers, apprenticeships and traineeships as well as work experience and voluntary opportunities.
Over 200 local and national companies were on hand to give students information and advice on the different routes into a range of industries, which included Engineering and Technology, Construction and Logistics, Health and Hospitality, Digital and Business and Creative, and Design.
Through an exciting and interactive environment, students were able to explore jobs of the future and test their skills in different jobs such as plastering.
Spotlight talks from industry leads also gave students an insight into specific industries and professions.
Teacher Mr Will Baines said ‘The day has been very inspirational for the students, who have received an excellent opportunity to explore a variety of careers, try out their skills and discover new talents.
‘Students now have a much better idea of what careers they would like to go into as well as what qualification they need.’
