Well done to one of our Year 8 student, Jorja, who has been awarded five medals for her highland dance talents at The Magics competition held at Disneyland Paris.
Jorja picked up a 1st, 3rd and three 2nd place medals for a range of dances she had to complete as part of the competition. She danced in the Premier 12 category and her dances included the Highland Fling and Hielan Laddie.
This is the second time Jorja has competed in the competition. She said: ‘Last time was in 2013. The event has grown a lot in size since then but I am please as I have improved my results. I found the Fling to be the easiest of the dances as I have been doing that since I was 3 or 4 years old. The Swords was probably the hardest as I changed my steps late on.
‘Overall I had a really good time and also enjoyed competing in the parade.’
Jorja’s dance group Leslie’s school of Highland Dance took home a total of 32 medals and 4 trophies from the competition. Well done.
