Ambition For All celebrations launch at KSA

As the Easter break draws to an end, it is our turn to take over as torchbearer of the Brooke Weston Trust ‘Ambition For All’ initiative.  During the course of this month we have organise a range of events to celebrate and support the ambition of our students and staff here at KSA.

The exam season is nearly upon us so we have decided to put in place a new initiative ‘Grab-a-Grade’ to support our Year 11 students. They will take part in activites specific to the subjects they are studying to help them develop further exam skills and knowledge to maximise their chances of gaining the highest grades possible.

The performing arts department will host a Royal Shakespeare Company live performance of Macbeth and drama students will hold a performance of their GCSE acts. Music students have also arranged a ‘Battle of the Bands’ which they have organised themselves as part of their course to showcase their performances and other musical talent from across the Trust schools.

Our Key Stage 3 students have some exciting challenges to look forward to. They have been invited to take part in ‘The Great Brooke Weston Trust Bake Off ‘and will compete in weekly challenges to find the Academy’s top bakers. The winners will then go through to the Trust finals. Year 8 will also be tested on their entrepreneurial skills and will be tasked to come up with a road safety idea, which they will present in front of a judging panel as part of the County Schools Challenge.

Finally, the Academy will host another Anti-bullying Ambassador training day with the Diana Award to train other students in the Academy and across the Trust to become ambassadors of the scheme.  There will also be a visit from BWT Director Heneage Stevenson who will meet with the Ambassadors and the Student Council to find out more about the important work they are doing around the Academy.

Associate Prinipal Mr Tony Segalini said: ‘We are excited to showcase all the ambitious things we do here at the Academy during ‘Ambition For All’ month. We have decided to focus some of our events specifically for our students who will soon be taking their exams. We want to support them in being the best they can be at this important time. We have also arranged opportunities to showcase the students’ work in performing arts to celebrate their talents and share their ambition.

‘This year is also the first time we have introduced the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors scheme to the Academy. Due to its success we are very excited that we are now holding our second Ambassadors training on site and are able to invite the other Trust schools. The sheme is very important in support of our ambition to stamp out bulling throughout the world.

‘I look forward to what is going to be an exciting month ahead.’
