At the end of last term, the Academy celebrated National Autism Awareness Week. Students and staff organised a variety of events to raise money for The National Autistic Society including a coffee morning and cake sale.
Last year our efforts meant that we won fundraising school of the year and we are pleased to announce that this year we have raised over £1100 for the charity, £400 of that being from the cake sale alone.
Teacher Miss Incles said: ‘Thank you to those who brought and made cakes for the event as well as those of you who made donations. The parents were so overcome by the event and the generosity of our staff and students.
‘It is important to promote awareness of conditions that cannot not always be seen. Students should be aware of Autism and its wide variety of different signs, symptoms and behaviours. KSA is an inclusive school and the staff and students have worked hard to make students with special educational needs feel accepted. Last year we won national fundraising school of the year and our efforts were recognised by a range of professionals at The National Autistic Society. We are hoping to continue to raise awareness of Autism and help to support a charity that helps so many young people and their families.’
