In preparation for Year 11 GCSE exams, the Academy have launched Grab-a-Grade, which focuses on helping students develop exam skills and knowledge to maximise their chances of gaining the highest grades possible.
The new initiative will run from 19th-25th April and students will have specific days dedicated to each of the subjects they are studying. Students will focus on exam techniques along with subject knowledge throughout the week, working both in groups and independently to help drive outcomes.
Assistant Principal Lisa Hawkins is responsible for Key Stage 4 Outcomes and has set up the initiative at KSA, she said: ‘ Developing higher order thinking skills and writing skills is extremely important for our students to ensure they have the best possible chance of achieving their target grades. Pupils will be working on improving exam style questions from their mock exams and focusing on improving this through Walking Talking Mocks. Staff at KSA have been working extremely hard on the preparation of Grab-a-Grade, to ensure students make good progress throughout the week'.
‘I initially started running these types of events at the previous school I worked at and found them to be very effective at helping students boost their exam success.
‘Overall the event is all about providing our students with the tools they need to allow them to be the best they can be.’
