A group of students studying drama from Year 8 – 10 recently took part in a four-day trip to Greece to help improve their performing arts skills. The students visited famous historical sites and took part in a variety of professional performing arts workshops.

The classes included performance warm-ups, developing choral skills and creating a piece of drama using only four words: Yes, no, Maybe, Why. The students ended the trip by combining all the skills they had learnt to devise their own tragedy piece, which they performed at Loutraki park.

Students also enjoyed time visiting Loutraki beach, Acropolis, Theatre of Dionysus and the Plaka District in Athens. They also had free time in the town buying gifts and memorabilia, eating ice cream and visited some spectacular views.

Drama Teacher Miss Watkinson said ‘The trip allowed the students to explore the country where theatre and its culture originated. They’ve had an amazing time and the workshops have helped the students improve their confidence and other skills.’
