Congratulations to Year 11 student Bernard Dec who made it through to the Intermediate Maths Olympiad. To qualify Bernard was one of the top 500 highest scorers in the Intermediate Challenge back in March.

In this latest competition, Bernard came in the top 50 of students in his year group across the country, receiving a book prize and gold medal from the UK Mathematics Trust. His book prize, ‘17 equations that changed the world’ explores how mathematical concepts such as Pythagoras’ theorem and logarithms are used in the modern day.

Bernard’s maths teacher, Mrs Smith said ‘This is a truly outstanding result and it is a credit to all of Bernard’s hard work and enthusiasm for Maths. Whilst working towards his Maths GCSE Bernard has also been working through the new A level syllabus. ‘

Congratulations Bernard!
