For her final A-level coursework project, textiles student Jordan has produced a costume inspired by Elle’s village dress in Beauty and the Beast.
Jordan designed the dress based her brief, in which a customer required a unique cosplay outfit within her budget.
Jordan made the complete outfit herself, which include the dress, the bodice, the cloak and the apron. The design also featured a range of sewing techniques such as applique, embroidery, darts and gathering.
Jordan said: ‘The project has been a complete step-up from GCSE. As well as making all the elements of the outfit, I produced everything that features on the dress including the laser cut buttons. Throughout the project I learnt lots of new skills and used lots of techniques, which I had never done before. I even created my own pattern piece from scratch.
‘I have really enjoyed the project and am vey proud of what I have made. Lots of time has gone into each section of the dress, which has been carefully researched, designed and made, and its wonderful to see the outfit finally come together as a whole.’
