Football Hotshots Off On Tour
Harry Henbury from Year 11 and Connor Towell from Year 9 are both members of the Football Development Schools programme (FDS), which is run in partnership with West Bromwich Albion Football Club.
They will travel to Guxhagen in Germany on January 7th for the four-day trip, with the indoor tournament expected to draw a large number of spectators.
The games are designed to be short and sharp so players play at a very high intensity and develop focus and concentration.
It is not the first time the two students have gone on tour with the team - Harry has been to Denmark twice and Connor has been to Denmark, Estonia, Germany and France.
Connor said: "You get a lot more experience and confidence because you're playing against tough teams.
"Also, when I went to Bordeaux, I had to stay with a family so that was a new experience too.
"The FDS is really professional with good training and high standards - I enjoy being part of it."
Harry added: "Taking part in the tour means you're training every day so you can improve quickly.
"The FDS has lots of contacts so you could get picked up by one of the big clubs. One player has just had trials with West Brom and another one just spent two weeks at Arsenal."
Harry, a striker, initially played for a youth team at Kettering Town Football Club but when it folded, he joined the FDS.
Connor, who plays on the wing and as a striker, got involved after successfully making it through the trials.
Now the pair train twice a week and play at weekends, facing youth teams from MK Dons, Cambridge and West Brom.
