KSA student lays wreath at Menin Gate
As part of the Battlefields tours programme led by UCL, Year 10 students travelled to Ypres and the Somme to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives during WW1.
The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the laying of a wreath to the fallen on behalf of the Kettering Science Academy community. Joshua Darnell was the lucky student chosen and performed the duty in front of a crowd of several thousand at the Menin Gate in Ypres. Other sites visited included Tyne Cot cemetery and the Thiepval memorial commemorating those lost at the Somme. The students involved are now planning a legacy project to widen awareness of WW1 in the community.
