Magician Hoping For Success In Talent Show Final
Jamie Docherty, who is in Year 11, has made it through to the final of the K Factor, which is being held at the Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering on Wednesday, July 20th.
Jamie's fascination with magic started when he was given a magic set around 10 years ago.
He started performing to his family and he was soon hooked on the thrill of keeping audiences guessing.
Now Jamie gets paid to do something he loves and has performed at weddings, birthday parties, private functions and even Northamptonshire Police's annual ball.
He belongs to the Northamptonshire Magicians Guild and each year, he attends the annual magicians' convention in Blackpool along with the likes of David Blaine.
Jamie's shows include illusions, comedy and close-up magic, which includes card and coin tricks.
He says his most popular illusion is where he stands on a box with another person inside and the two appear to swap places.
Jamie said he would like to become a full-time magician but is returning to KSA for Sixth Form in September so he has something to fall back on.
He said: "I just love entertaining people. I got addicted from the start and the thrill is seeing people wonder how I've done something.
"I work as often as I can and I would love to do it full time. I know lots of people who do it as a full time job."
Tickets for the show, which starts at 7pm, are available from the Box Office on 01536 414141.
The K Factor features acts by other young people from across the area.
