Enterprising Idea From Da Vinci Students

Students in Da Vinci 4 took advantage of the recent hot spell to raise funds for their nominated charity, KidsAid.

They came up with the idea of selling ice-lollies to Primary Phase children and their families after school on Fridays.

It proved to be a very successful venture and they sold out of lollies the first time they set up shop outside the Primary building.

They negotiated a reduced price with Farmfoods and made £30 profit in their first week.

Head of Da Vinci House Hazel Dodd said the students' efforts embody what the House system is trying to achieve - the creation of a 'family' within each House.

She said: "I genuinely believe Da Vinci has excelled at vertical tutoring. Someone comes up with an idea for something and the rest of the students are always up for it."

Last week, Da Vinci House handed over £500 to KidsAid thanks to all its fundraising efforts. The charity provides supports for children and young people who have suffered any kind of trauma.
