Science Revision Sessions Attract More Than 200 Students

Students have shown dedication and enthusiasm for their science studies by turning up in droves to special after-school workshops.

Science teachers put on a series of sessions this term to help students in years 9, 10 and 11 prepare for modular exams.
They proved to be very popular, with 232 students turning up for the first lot of sessions earlier this term.
Students in years 10 and 11 who are taking triple science GCSEs (pictured) will continue with the revision sessions in the coming weeks.
Head of Science Jacki Cook said staff were pleased with the response to the after-school programme and that students proved to be very hardworking.

Staff are building on the success of the science department, after 86% of year 11s achieved two GCSEs in science graded A* to C this summer.

During the Academy's recent Ofsted visit, inspectors rated the progress made by students in science as good, saying: "In the secondary phase the science faculty is helping to lead improvements in the use of effective assessment to inform interesting teaching. This has helped to raise students' attainment at all levels of ability."
