Packed Programme for French Trip

Language students will experience French culture and history during the much-anticipated trip to Château Beaumont next month.

The five-day trip to the residential centre, which is located on the Normandy/Loire Valley

border, will include a host of on-site activities plus visits to nearby sites of interest and significance.

The trip on February 9th will enable year 8 students to develop their language skills while gaining an insight into other cultures.

The centre is surrounded by 10 acres of grounds in which the students will try their hand at archery and fencing as well as having a go on a zip wire, climbing wall and night-line.

The trip will include a trip to Laval and the local market, where students will carry out a market study and sample the local produce.

There will also be a visit to a cider museum where the group will be told in French how cider is made before making their own.

On the penultimate day, students will visit Mont St Michel, where they will tour the abbey and the walls of the town, explore the medieval shops and streets, visit St Malo and have lunch on the beach.

There will also be a chance during the trip for student to sample the French delicacies of frog's legs and snails.

On top of all that, staff have organised a fancy dress competition, a quiz and a disco.
