Celebrating Reading for World Book Day
Plans are underway for a colourful celebration of World Book Day, with some well-know characters set to be brought to life.
Next Thursday (March 1st), students will receive their World Day Book tokens (£1) from their Learning Mentors.
Librarian Juliet Walsh and sixth formers from the Library Committee will be taking inspiration from some of fiction's most popular characters and will also be handing out Diary of a Wimpy Kid bookmarks.
They are running a competition, 'Guess the Teacher's Favourite Book' and will be holding a table top sale to raise money for Book Aid International.
Mrs Walsh has been chosen to be a giver for World Book Night on April 23rd, another campaign aimed at getting people reading, especially non-readers. She will be giving away a free book to parents/carers on April 23rd as they collect students.
