Dodgeball Tournament for Sport Relief

A dodgeball competition held in aid of Sport Relief was very well supported with 260 students taking part.

Organised by PE teacher Lee Haywood, the after-school tournament saw teams from different year groups - plus a few members of staff - pitted against each other over the course of two days.

Such was the turnout that the semi final and final for Key Stage 3 had to be re-arranged to this Thursday afternoon.

The students' efforts raised £259, in addition to the money raised from the Sport Relief Mile.

My Haywood said: "We knew we'd get a good turn out because they have really taken to dodgeball in their PE lessons and they keep asking to do it. We're thinking of holding a tournament twice a year now because it was so popular.

"They were quite competitive but so well behaved. One of the best things was the number of students who went out and bought Sport Relief merchandise to wear, so as an Academy, we must have contributed quite a lot."
