Students Pass Food Safety Course

A group of Year 10 Students are celebrating after receiving an extra qualification in food hygiene.

A group Year 10 Students are celebrating after receiving an extra qualification in food hygiene.
The students decided to work towards getting a certificate for Level 2 Food Safety in Catering
at the Academy after finishing the first year of their GCSE graphics course.
In order to pass the students sat an eight hour course which  included some practical work to help them understand the theory. 
The course culminated with a one hour exam, with a 66 per cent requirement to pass the course.
Food Technology and Catering Teacher, Mr Simon Isaacs, who delivered the course, said: “I am pleased we could offer this course to the students and provide them with an additional qualification whilst they waited to start their next course.
“It is great that all these students passed the course and it is another qualification for them.”
He added: “It will also help them when applying for jobs in the future, especially if they wish to work in catering or the hospitality business.The students enjoyed the course and it was something different for them to work towards.”



The students who passed, The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering were Year 10 students: Luke Aridegbe, Samuel Berwick, Adam Bridgman, Connor Carslake, Georgina Cutting, George Duke, Harry Freeman, Jarrod Gregory, Shaun Hammond, Danny Hewitt, Dylan Jackson, Samuel Jepps, Louise Lee, Kasia Ordynowska, Lewis Reilly, Joshua Taylor, Myles Tew and Charlie Wotton.
