Our young bakers were praised for the quality of their food during the first ever Great Brooke Weston Trust Bake Off final.
Year 9 students Charlotte Bedford, Sophie Moss, Teresa Perez and Ropa Muswere made it through to the last stage of the competition after taking part in six baking master classes and six baking challenges to find the very best bakers at KSA.
During the final they faced students from four other academies in the Brooke Weston Trust and worked as a team to produce an afternoon tea for six people in less than five hours.
The competition was incredibly close and even though our bakers did not win they received praise from professional chefs.
Corby Business Academy Restaurant Manager, Chris Lapsley, who launched the trust-wide competition, said: “All the finalists worked hard and the standard of every afternoon tea was exceptionally high.”
The other schools involved in the competition were Corby Business Academy, Brooke Weston Academy, Corby Technical School and Thomas Clarkson Academy.Corby Business Academy won the competition.
Following the competition,Food Technology and Catering Teacher at KSA, Mr Simon Isaac, said: "Our students worked fantastically as a team, and created some superb products, and demonstrated some excellent skills including making Creme Patisserie and Strawberry Jam from scratch to use in their products.
"The standard of products on the day was very high, and only a few points separated the teams."
