Launch of New Health Information Point

A new information area has been created in the Academy’s library to help promote health and emotional well-being.

A new information area has been created in the Academy’s library to help promote health and emotional well-being.
The information point is available to all students to access and gain useful health and well-being facts and guidance.
The section is dedicated to helpful posters and associated literature on various health related issues including sexual health advice and counselling services.
Librarian at the Secondary Phase, Heidi  Economou said: “We have been working with the Health Information service to provide this facility to benefit the Academy and are therefore now able to provide a wide range of leaflets, posters and general information.
“We are hoping this area will enable students to locate information to help them make healthy choices.  It will also enable us to intervene where necessary and sign post students to the right people for their needs.”
In the future library staff are also keen to invite representatives of various health organisations to visit the academy and be available to speak in more depth to students about particular subjects.

Alongside this new information section the library is each term creating a dedicated health related window display. The displays each term will look to compliment some of the subject areas being covered in form times.
This term the display is informing students about the risks to health of drinking alcohol.
Organisations featured in the new section include: Kettering Youth Information Service, Solve It and the NHS.
