Student Librarians are looking to be recruited for both the Primary and Secondary Phase Libraries.
The Academy's libraries, since the start of the new term, have been advertising for suitable applicants to take on the roles for the academic year.  
At the Secondary Phase there is a job description available from library staff outlining the personal attributes needed to become a librarian.
The attributes being looked for include: good communication skills, enthusiasm for reading and for books, polite, good humoured and well mannered, good time-keepers, punctual and reliable, to be able to stay calm under pressure and be willing to learn how the library systems operate.
Other useful, but non-essential, attributes are: good computer skills and creative skills for making displays and creating professional-looking posters.
The designated tasks for the role include: assisting the library at set times, helping to run the circulation desk, consultation with students on their favourite books and consulting with library staff on new acquisitions. They will also be asked to help with displays, keeping the library tidy and welcoming as well as being present at least one of the Academy’s open evenings.
The job role is open to all students in Years 7- 11. Application forms are available from the library and the closing date for applications to be submitted to the library desk, in a sealed envelope, is Tuesday, 1st October. Successful candidates will then be interviewed on Monday, 6th October.
At the Primary Phase, lead staff member for the library, Jane Hughes is also looking to recruit a team of Junior Librarians, who have been asked to fill in an application form and will be interviewed.
