Head Librarian for Kettering Science Academy has secured an extra £100 to be used for the purchase of new books for the Secondary Phase library.
Mrs Heidi Economou has been awarded the book voucher for the Academy’s library after writing and submitting a review of the library’s on-line Eclipse system.
Mrs Economou in her case study of the system praised the ease and convenience it provides to the users, both staff and students alike.
She also said about the welcome addition of the library MLS App, which allows for the virtual accessing of the library booklists on-line via an individual’s phone or mobile device.
In her review of the Eclipse (MLS) system she stated: “Having access to the library regardless of opening times shows how modern day users want to access information. Eclipse allows us to deliver a bespoke service, at a fraction of the cost, ensuring always that information is accurate and available.
“In terms of encouraging partnerships and making life long users of libraries, staff and students appreciate that they can access other libraries to browse for stock.”
She added how the system complements the modern library at KSA and how it helps the library to be run smoothly and efficiently.
After submitting the review to Eclipse (MLS) Mrs Economou received an email confirmation of the extra £100 to spend on books from Peters Books for the benefit of the students and staff, adding to the variety of books the library provides.
Students and staff are reminded that they can access the MLS library app on their phones and tablets via the QR code to be found in the school’s library.
Please click on the poster below for more information on connecting to the mobile library service.
Students via the App can request books they would like to see in the library, view popular book lists and read about authors and their books.
