Bake Off Final
Kettering Science Academy's Bake Off contestants are entering into the final of the heats for the cooking competition this week.
Kettering Science Academy's Bake Off contestants are entering into the final of the heats for the cooking competition this week.
For the last five weeks the student bakers have been cooking on Thursday evenings after school and their creations of bread rolls, scones, cakes and tray bakes have been marked by internal judges.
There are 12 young bakers at KSA currently competing against each other and hoping to be chosen to represent the Academy in the Great Brooke Weston Trust’s Bake Off in July.
Only four students will be taken through to the competition’s final to be held at Corby Business Academy.
Each week the students have been asked to present what they have baked in front of three judges, who have marked them on overall presentation and taste of their food.
This week the students are being asked to present their ‘Show Stopper’ item, the best of all their presentations from the earlier rounds of the competition and a creation that they believe will secure them a place in the final.
Food and catering teacher, Mr Simon Isaac said: “The competition amongst the students is incredibly fierce, and as we approach the final week everything is still to play for with the Show Stopper.
“The KSA judging team has been delighted with the presentation, flavours and attention to detail of the products presented and it is clear how much effort the students have put in with practices at home.”
