The Head of KSA's Performing Arts department has high hopes for this year’s GCSE drama students as they showcased their acting abilities through a series of exceptional examination performances.
Before the half term week our Year 11 drama students completed their Unit 3 performances in front of an examiner and an audience of our Year 10 drama students.
On Thursday 26th May the students took to the stage at the Academy in three groups and performed a range of different scripted plays around this year’s set theme of ‘consequences’.
Our exam students performed a number of pieces including Too Much Punch for Judy, by Mark Wheeler – exploring the consequences surrounding drink driving, Blackout, by Davey Anderson – exploring the consequences of choice and actions and finally, My Mother Said, I Never Should by Charlotte Keatley – exploring the consequences of family ties, lies and teenage pregnancy.
Head of Performing Arts at KSA, Miss Julia Mallard praised the students’ adaptations and said: "This year’s Year 11 students blew us away. All the pieces provided us with tears, tension and laughter. It was an excellent day of performances and I would like to congratulate all those involved. I hope that the results in the summer reflect the high standard of work they produced and the performances that they delivered."
The GCSE students who performed were: Leah Wells, Kayleigh Troutman, Luke Haldane, Will Martin, Harry Stearn, Daniel Khumalo, Jordan Ori-Orison, Teresa Perez, Abbie Preedy and Romey Dobson.
