Our Athletes Triumph At District Event
Our Year 9 students excelled at the recent District Athletic Championships in Corby.
On Thursday, 26th May a group of 25 students participated in the athletic event that took place at Rockingham Triangle Sports Stadium.
During the event our athletes put in some great performances and two of our students have now made it through to the county finals.
Joe freeman got through to represent KSA at county level in the Under 15 boys final in the javelin with a throw of more than 35 metres being recorded.
Joe said: “I am pleased to have made it through to the final and especially as it was my last attempt that was my qualifying throw. This will be my first time at the finals and do not really know what to expect going into it at the weekend. I will do my best, that’s all I can do.”
Annabelle Clotworthy won the 100m girls race in an exceptional time of 12.09 seconds and gained a new personal best time for herself as well as securing her a place in the county girls’ final of the sprint.
Annabelle is a keen runner and also a member of Kettering Harriers running club, she said: “I am bit nervous of taking part in the county finals as it’s my first time, but I am also pleased to have qualified.”
PE teacher at KSA, Mr Michael Stock said: “It was a brilliant day of athletics and the students that represented us were amazing, a real credit to our school.”
The county final of the Athletic Championships takes place this Saturday 11th June at the Corby sports stadium.
