Well done to all our Year 7 students who represented KSA at a recent district cycling event.
A group of our Year 7 girls and boys were selected from a recent cycle event at KSA to take part in the cycling School Games competition at Southfields School last Friday, 24th June.
Our athletes put in some promising cycling performances on the day and the Academy came away from the event with a bronze medal for the time trials. Year 7 student, Ryan Palmer came in third for the school ahead of students from the other four schools that competed on the day.
Ryan said: “I was proud of the result at the competition and it was a fun event to take part in and I do enjoy cycling.”
The students who represented the school on the day had qualified through a cycling event that been run at the school to encourage students to take an interest in cycling by British cycling community coach, Catherine Ruffley.
PE teacher Mrs Fran Allan said: “A total of 20 girls and 16 boys had showed an initial interest in the cycling relay and trial events with the fastest cyclists making through to the district heats. They took part in 100m sprints, time trials and relay cycling around the school field.”
