A successful first season is recorded for our Under 15s cricketers.
Last Wednesday, 13th July our Under 15s boys cricket team travelled to Moseley Cricket Club in Birmingham to represent Northamptonshire in the regional finals of The Chance to Compete hard ball competition.
The Academy team was selected to represent their county following their success in both the indoor and outdoor league.
The counties present included: Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
KSA were drawn in a group with Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Leicestershire.
The boys played two fixtures against Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire winning both to top their group with Sven Sartain scoring 18 and 19 in his two innings, Ned Wilson 20 not out retired and 7 not out; Vijesh Patel and Callum Stratford both took 3 wickets each.
PE teacher, Mr William Baines said: “The boys then went on to play Warwickshire in the final for the chance to progress to the national finals at Lords. Unfortunately, the boys lost to a very impressive side and ended up finishing 2nd out of 8 counties in the region which is a fantastic achievement.”
Then on Thursday the pupils took on Caroline Chisholm in the county final after winning the Kettering league of the Fred Trueman U15 competition.
Mr Baines added: “KSA batted first but got off to a poor start losing a few of the top order cheaply. The middle order fought back (Hamdard 26) to crawl to a total of 67. Caroline Chisholm knocked off the total easily with two very talented county batsmen hitting most of the runs. The U15 team have finished this year as County indoor finals runners up, Northamptonshire North (Kettering) league champions and County Final runners up. As well as representing the County at Chance to Shine Regional finals finishing 2nd out of 8 counties in the region.
“Considering this is the 1st year that the lads have been together as a team they have achieved a fantastic amount and have a lot to be proud of! I would like to congratulate all the boys that played their part this season. Ned Wilson (C), Sven Sartain, Sam Houghton, Ben Cox, Callum Stratford, Jordan Skeels, Hamid Hamdard, Vijesh Patel, Shaun Smith, Ashdeep Kang, Carter Greetham, Sheer Ahmed.”
