Kettering Science Academy is celebrating after a superb set of A level results.
There has been an increase in the number of Sixth Formers who have achieved top graded A levels this year meaning a number of students have secured places at some of the best universities in the country.
The majority of students at the Academy have achieved or exceeded their exam grade targets with the number of students receiving 3 A* grades – B recorded as trebled this year.
The pass rate at the Academy has been improving year on year with the results for this year further reinforcing the Ofsted grading of ‘good’ for our Sixth Form in the school’s most recent Ofsted report.
60 percent of students secured grades up to at least grade B.
Top achievers in A levels this year include Dylan Birk, Connor Beadsworth, Daniel Warren and Arash Ganji who achieved top grades in all subjects.
Principal at Kettering Science Academy, Paul Davies said: “Our results are very much improved again this year and follow on from last year’s successes for points scored.
“We are pleased to report we have a number of top achievers with some excellent results including one student who is going to Cambridge. We are also very pleased for three of our students who are looking to take up places on courses to study medicine and another in law.”
Mr Davies added: “These results reflect the ever improving high standards of our Sixth Form provision, which was graded ‘good’ as part of the Academy’s most recent Ofsted inspection. These tremendous achievements stand to represent further our students hard work and efforts as well as the ongoing support they have received from their families. It further illustrations the increasing high standard and quality of teaching at KSA in general throughout the school.”
Year 13 student and KSA Head Boy, Dylan Birk has been accepted at Sidney Sussex College at Cambridge to study medicine after being awarded 2A*s and an A he said: “I am over the moon with my results. I have worked really hard and I am pleased all my hard work has paid off. Everyone else has done really well too and I am really proud for them.”
Dylan will start at Cambridge at the beginning of October and he added: “I cannot wait to start at university in October and sit in on the tutorials being delivered by top medical professionals, it is all very exciting.”
Year 13 Student, Connor Beadsworth has been accepted for Manchester University to also study medicine, he said: “I am relieved to get the results I required and I am looking forward to starting my next chapter at university next month. I am also looking forward to working with people in hospitals in the future and my main interest is being involved in emergency medics.”
Year 13 Student Arash Ganji is also off to study medicine at the University of Exeter after being awarded 3 A*s, he said: “I am happy with my grades and that all of my hard work has paid off. I am also excited about the next chapter.”
Assistant Vice Principal for Sixth Form, Jane Watson, said: “We are more than pleased again with this year’s A level results and particularly pleased with the increased number of high achievers.”
