Principal's Update 6th June 2025
Dear all
I hope this update finds you well and you have had a good week.
📝 Exam Season in Full Swing – Supporting Year 11 and Year 13
The exam season now continues in earnest for our Year 11 and 13 students. We’re incredibly proud of how they’ve approached this challenging period, showing resilience, focus and commitment.
We know that this can be an intense time, and we’re committed to supporting each student not only academically, but also emotionally. Here are a few helpful reminders:
- Lesson attendance still matters: If your child has not yet had an exam in a particular subject, they are still expected to attend lessons for that subject. Teachers continue to use lesson time to prepare students for upcoming papers, address knowledge gaps, and build confidence.
- Utilise the revision resources: Students should continue to make full use of the materials available on our dedicated revision hubs and subject sites. These have been tailored to each subject and are designed to support last-minute recall, practice, and confidence-building. Your child should already know how to access these, but if you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to contact their form tutor for guidance.
- Small steps, big impact: Encourage your child to take regular breaks, get plenty of sleep, and eat well. Effective revision is more about consistency and recall than cramming.
- We’re here to help: Our pastoral and safeguarding teams are on hand if your child is feeling overwhelmed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out - sometimes just a conversation can make all the difference.
💉 Year 8 HPV Vaccinations – Wednesday 12th June
As part of the national immunisation programme, HPV vaccinations will be offered to Year 8 students on Thursday 12th June. These vaccinations help protect against the human papillomavirus, which can cause a range of health issues later in life.
Please ensure you have returned the necessary consent forms if you wish your child to be vaccinated.
🔄 Looking Ahead – Transition and Moving Up
As we approach the final half term, we’re turning our attention to transition and progression and how we support every young person to end their current year well and prepare for the next.
Each year group will be following a programme of tailored activities and support, designed to help them reflect, reset, and get ready for what’s next. Further information will be shared shortly.
For Year 10 families, a separate communication has already been sent to you outlining specific next steps.
🎉 Welcome, New Year 7s!
Last night we hosted a disco for the children who will be joining us in Year 7 this September and what an event it was! Over 100 children attended and took part in activities designed to help them start forming connections with each other and with some of the KSA staff who will be supporting them next year.
There were games (musical statues was such a hit we had to end it without a winner!), icebreakers, and lots of laughter. Huge thanks to our brilliant Year 9 students who helped run the event and supported our visitors so maturely, and also to our Peru expedition team for running the tuck shop to raise funds for their upcoming trip.
🎭 KettFest Performance – Saturday 14th June
A group of Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students will be representing KSA with a performance at KettFest on Saturday 14th June. They'll be taking to the community stage near McDonald's in the precinct at 2:30pm, with a 10-minute routine they’ve been rehearsing during enrichment sessions.
Please do come along to support them if you’re free as it's another brilliant opportunity to celebrate the talent and dedication of our students.
As ever, thank you for your continued support as we move through the half term - there's still plenty to look forward to!
Mrs Giovanelli
