Behaviour for Learning
We have a simple system that encourages students to modify their behaviour if they fall below the standards expected of students at Kettering Science academy and are not being Ready, Respectful or Safe.
Remind - staff will remind a student of the conduct that is expected and use the language of being Ready, Respectful and Safe.
Reinforce - staff will reinforce the conduct that is expected and the rules of being Ready, Respectful and Safe. Behaviour points will now be logged at this stage.
On-Call - If a student persistently falls below the expectations in the classroom and is disrupting the learning environment, support will be called for and the student will be removed from the classroom and placed in a faculty refocus room if appropriate or the student will receive support from the pastoral team.
Central to our Behaviour for learning policy is our belief that being in lessons, learning effectively, is the single most important factor in a student being successful. Every lesson is a community of learners, and we expect our students to be Ready, Respectful and Safe.
If a student receives 2 behaviour points within a day, they will be set a 30-minute after school detention for the following day and parents will be notified through the Edulink system.
If a student receives 3 or more behaviour points during a day a 1-hour after school detention will be set for the following day and again parent will be notified through the Edulink system.
If a student receives multiple behaviour points in one day, this may result in an escalation of intervention which will be discussed by the Head of Year and Year Group Senior Leadership Team Link. Actions will be considered in line with our behaviour policy. Parents will be informed of any agreed actions through the Edulink system or via a phone call.
